What exactly IS i5GUI?
i5GUI is a set of prebuilt HATS transformations for CIMS. HATS is an IBM licensed product that transforms your 5250 screens "on the fly" using a 5250-HTML web application. i5GUI is designed to accomodate the standard way that CIMS presents data in a 5250 screen and transform that presentation into a GUI.Is this a replacement for CIMS?
No! i5GUI breathes new life into CIMS by giving it a GUI: A look and feel that has been promised for CIMS but never delivered. We encourgage you to continue to use your CIMS product but use i5GUI to transform the "green screen" look into a beautiful, useful, HTML or Windows look.Does Value Added Software, Inc. provide support for CIMS ?
No. We suggest that you continue your support contracts with your current support provider. We will support you and assist you with i5GUI/HATS specific issues. Can Value Added Software, Inc. provide customization for my applications ?
Absolutely! HATS is a powerful, flexible, complex tool that can produce completely new screen functions without changing your CIMS code at all. You could, for example, add data to an existing CIMS screen that would display data from another database or website without needing source code or RPG custom programming. We have an old AS/400 that we haven't replaced because we didn't know what the next step for CIMS would be. Is it too old?
No. i5GUI will work with an older model AS/400 but the web serving component would have to be run on a Windows or Linux host. However, if you haven't purchased an awesome, new System i, you are missing out on some substantial benefits. We'd be more than happy to provide you a quote for a new, affordable System i. It cost less than you might imagine! So, how much does i5GUI cost?
Depending upon your current System i configuration, you could get started with i5GUI for as little as $5,000Great product! What should we do to get i5GUI?
How about a demostration of it's capabilities? Call 1-800-524-4319 and ask for a demo. We should probably provide you with a quick assessment of your existing System i (iSeries or AS/400) and determine what else you might need to get started.
